We are here for residents, visitors and businesses
Maastricht Marketing is an independent non-profit foundation. As guardian of the Maastricht brand, we connect partners, organise cooperation and inspire city and region to jointly spread the Maastricht story. The Maastricht Marketing Foundation has existed since 1898 - then as De Vereeniging tot Bevordering van het Vreemdelingenverkeer (VVV) - and works entirely on behalf of the city.
Our mission
Maastricht is a city where innovation, culture, international ambition and quality of life go hand in hand. We contribute to broad prosperity by:
-
stimulating a sustainable, versatile (visitor) economy;
-
strengthening the healthy city of Maastricht;
-
cherishing and making cultural heritage accessible;
-
promoting social cohesion: the strength between people and organisations that makes this city unique.
We focus not only on visitors, but also on residents, neighbours, students, entrepreneurs and knowledge workers. By inspiring them to discover and enjoy the city, we strengthen the local economy and create opportunities for everyone who lives, works, studies or undertakes here.
Objectives covenant
Our covenant with the Municipality of Maastricht defines the following goals:
-
Positioning of the city (and region)
-
Stimulating quality tourism = residential tourism
-
Stimulating (tourist-recreational) employment
-
Promote Maastricht's reputation as the capital of good living
-
Promoting events that suit the city of Maastricht and contribute to strengthening its image
-
Stimulate broad cooperation in the city and region around the positive positioning of Maastricht to (potential) visitors
-
Boosting sustainable economic earning capacity through cooperation with various relevant parties, positioning Maastricht and its wider region as an attractive place for businesses and talents to locate.
-
Stimulate the pride of all 'Maastricht people' so that they become enthusiastic ambassadors of Maastricht
Funding
Maastricht Marketing works entirely on behalf of the city of Maastricht, with all income and revenues from our activities and projects flowing directly back to the city and the region. The Municipality of Maastricht provides us with an annual subsidy. With these funds, we carry out the tasks as laid down in the covenant with the Municipality of Maastricht. In addition, we generate our own income. This income is realised, among other things, through ticket sales for guided tours, such as the caves, Fort Sint Pieter, the Kazematten and city walks, as well as through the sale of products in the Maastricht Store. All income is used to implement our mission and objectives as set out in the covenant, with the self-generated income also helping to cover costs that are not fully funded by the subsidy.
