The Heiligdomsvaart is a religious and cultural event organised once every seven years. In 2025, Maastricht Marketing was responsible for the communication around this special event.

Within Visitmaastricht.com's quadrilingual visitor website, a specially designed landing page for the Heiligdomsvaart has been created with general and practical information (ticket sales, opening hours, accessibility), background stories, the cultural programming, and special hotel packages.

Campaign

Traffic to the Heiligdomsvaart page was generated by social media and items in Visit Maastricht's B2C newsletters. The hotel packages were specifically highlighted with a social media campaign aimed at potential visitors from the Randstad region.

Advertisements Heiligdomsvaart

The campaign performed particularly strongly in terms of reach and volume. The bookended posts contributed to additional visibility and engagement on the channels. In addition, the hotel booking campaign achieved a substantial number of clicks at an efficient cost. Given the limited lead time to go live, the result can be assessed as very positive.

German media

For the purpose of overall positioning of the Sanctuary Cruise and promotion of the event's cultural programming in, we also brought it to the attention of German culture lovers in North Rhine-Westphalia. We did this by sending a press release to German regional media. This resulted in several publications: in print media (including the Wochenspiegels of Monschau, Schleiden and Euskirchner), online articles and a broadcast on the local television channel Lokalzeit aus Aachen.
