The Maastricht Store in the Dinghuis is now a familiar place where residents and visitors to the city can go for information, inspiration and special gifts with a story. In 2025, we reaped the benefits of the change in direction initiated the previous year. We received 14% more visitors than in 2024: 220,000 visitors were informed about our city and/or found a memento of their stay.

Culture, crafts - and local identity

The Maastricht Store further developed into a place where high-quality hospitality and tourist information go hand in hand with a range of brand-enhancing products. The focus is on products with a clear relationship to Maastricht, with culture, craft and local identity being the common threads. In 2025, we launched our own social media channels for the Maastricht Store, to give the products and the stories behind them their own stage on Facebook and Instagram.

Shop as brand carrier

Since 2023, we gradually implement Maastricht's new visual brand identity in both the shop design and the product assortment, making the shop a brand carrier for the city: recognisable, distinctive and deeply rooted in the local context.

In 2025, our focus was on further expanding collaborations with local makers, designers and organisations. The range of Maastricht-related merchandise was expanded. A special project in this year was the launch of two construction sheets of Maastricht buildings, developed in cooperation with graphic designer Ivo van Sluis and fitting in with Heiligdomsvaart 2025. This project will be further deepened in 2026. Together with designer Roger+, we developed our own Maastricht Store gift card and a new Maastricht T-shirt. In addition, the collaboration with Maastricht Porcelain resulted in a new addition to the Maastricht dialect tableware line: the 'Kumpke'.

Connecting place

The summer month of July reaffirms Maastricht's international appeal every year. During the Rieu weekends, the Maastricht Store receives visitors from all over the world, who come not only for the concerts, but also for the city, its stories and its products. Visitors appreciate the personal insights and knowledge shared here.

The Maastricht Store continues to grow as a connecting place where city, makers, residents and visitors come together.

Cooperation and knowledge sharing

In our search for local talent, we made several visits last year to the Werkgebouw, a makers' collective in Maastricht. In 2026, we will collaborate with makers offering workshops. We will also launch a special jewellery line by jewellery designer Kristy Bujaniç next year, focusing on South Limburg.

We also visited trade fairs and consulted with cities in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany on regional cooperation and knowledge sharing. Led by Destination Netherlands, we participated in the annual conference and an inspiration day, which provided valuable insights for further professionalisation and positioning of the Maastricht Store within the tourism network.

And more:

  • existed our work building, the Dinghuis, 555 years. To celebrate, the Maastricht Store and Explore Maastricht organised an anniversary exhibition and puppet show on the Bel floor and guided tours of the building, all of which were sold out.
  • on the Day of the Flan, we presented a new Maastricht flan recipe developed by cookbook author Janneke Philippi. The flan could be sampled at the Maastricht Store, Boekhandel Dominicanen, Bakkerij Hermans and Bakkerijen Paulissen. We also made the recipe available free of charge to all baking enthusiasts. A beautiful connection between city, tradition and local makers.
  • For the Municipality of Maastricht and Steunpunt Mantelzorg Zuid, we organised a mailing with VVV Gift Cards to over 2,000 informal carers on the Day of the Mantelzorg.
  • we started making the Maastricht Store accessible within the framework of SME accessibility. This will be completed in 2026.
